Our history

Established in 2013, Elysium Psychology is dedicated to enhancing the mental health of individuals through evidence-based practices.

Research highlights that mental health literacy is crucial for the recognition, management, and prevention of mental illness. Elysium Psychology strives to:

  • Enhance individuals’ mental health literacy to prevent mental health issues.
  • Improve the recognition of mental illness and the development of mental health disorders.
  • Increase awareness of available help-seeking options and treatments.
  • Expand knowledge of effective self-help strategies for less severe mental health issues.
  • Provide treatment to those affected by mental health problems.

Our Journey

2019–2021
In 2019, Elysium Psychology expanded its team by welcoming additional clinicians to our Ascot Vale site. Despite the significant challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, our clinical and administrative teams quickly and effectively transitioned to telehealth. This ensured uninterrupted support for our clients during a particularly difficult time in Melbourne and across Victoria. Responding to growing demand, we opened our Greensborough site in November 2020 and further strengthened our team to meet community needs.

2022
In July 2022, we relocated our Ascot Vale offices to a larger, purpose-designed site in Brunswick. This move allowed for continued team growth and greater accessibility to our services across Melbourne’s inner north.

2023
In 2023, we expanded our clinical team and deepened our collaborations with La Trobe, Monash, and RMIT universities, further strengthening our ties with the broader mental health and academic communities.

2024
By 2024, Elysium Psychology had grown to include a clinical team of 30 psychologists and counsellors, supported by an eight-member client services team and a dedicated community relations and marketing assistant. Together, our team remains committed to addressing the increasing demand for high-quality mental health services.

2025
In 2025, we launched the Elysium in Schools program, bringing co-located psychologists into school communities to improve accessibility and support for students, families, and staff.

Leadership and Vision
Our Director and Principal Psychologist, Katy Dib, is committed to delivering exceptional mental health care. As an AHPRA Psychology Board-Approved Supervisor, Katy plays a key role in mentoring the next generation of psychologists through academic partnerships with La Trobe and Monash Universities. She provides placement opportunities for Master’s students and supports internship pathways. Katy is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, both within the community and across digital platforms.

Our Dragonfly Logo

Elysium Psychology Pty Ltd chose the dragonfly as our logo as it represents the attributes of an individual that we value and wish to develop.

Maturity and a depth of character

The dragonfly symbolises change in perspective through self development; the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity.

Traditionally Dragonflies are associated with water. The Dragonfly’s scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what is conscious and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life.

 Power and poise

The dragonfly’s agile flight and its ability to move in all six directions exude a sense of power and poise – something that comes only with age and maturity.

The dragonfly can move at an amazing 70 kms an hour,  hover like a helicopter, fly backwards like a hummingbird, fly straight up, down and on either side. What is extraordinary about this is  it can do this while flapping its wings a mere 30 times a minute while mosquitoes and houseflies need to flap their wings 600 and 1000 times a minute respectively.

An awe inspiring aspect of the dragonfly is how it accomplishes its objectives with utmost simplicity, effectiveness and power.

 Defeat of self created illusions

The dragonfly exhibits iridescence both on its wings as well as on its body. Iridescence is the property of an object to show itself in different colors depending on the angle and polarization of light falling on it.

This property is seen and believed as the end of one’s self created illusions and a clear vision into the realities of life.

The magical property of iridescence is also associated with the discovery of one’s own abilities by unmasking the real self and removing the doubts one casts on his/her own sense of identity. This again indirectly means self discovery and removal of inhibitions.

Focus on living ‘IN’ the moment

A dragonfly normally lives most of its life as a nymph or an immature. It flies only for a fraction of its life and usually not more than a few months. This adult dragonfly does it all in these few months and leaves nothing to be desired.

This style of life symbolises and exemplifies the virtue of living IN the moment and living life to the fullest.

By living in the moment you are aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you want, what you don’t and make informed choices on a moment-to-moment basis.

 The opening of one’s eyes

The eyes of the dragonfly are one of the most amazing features. Given almost 80% of the insect’s brain power is dedicated to its sight and the fact that it can see in all 360 degrees around it, it symbolises the uninhibited vision of the mind and the ability to see beyond the limitations of the human self.
